As reported by Tutto Mercato Web, Leeds target Nahitan Nandez has left Cagliari furious after he went AWOL and skipped their pre-season tour.

What’s the story?

Well, by the sounds of it, Leeds have been chasing the 41-cap Uruguay international for most of the summer.

It seemed like Marcelo Bielsa had missed out on his No.1 target to Inter Milan, after Nandez agreed a contract at the San Siro.

However, Corriere dello Sport reveal that Inter Milan will now focus on Denzel Dumfries instead, abandoning a move for the South American.

That seems to have angered Nandez, who has skipped Cagliari’s pre-season trip to Mallorca following the latest development in the transfer saga.

It’s safe to say that Stefano Capozucca – Cagliari’s Technical Director – is far from impressed.

What did he say about Nandez’s actions?

In quotes provided by Tutto Mercato Web, Capozucca sounded absolutely furious.

He said: “Nandez did not show up at the appointment to leave for Mallorca without agreeing on this choice with the club.

“Always behaving with the utmost respect towards the club, the fans, the teammates and the jersey is an absolute priority for us and certainly having disrespectful attitudes can only stiffen the position of our president who, despite the many economic difficulties of the moment, will never accept this type of forcing.”

It sounds like Nandez is burning his bridges with the Serie A side, which can only be a good thing for Leeds and Bielsa.

Cagliari are demanding £31m for the 25-year-old, which would make him the most expensive player Elland Road has ever housed.

It seemed like a deal was dead after Nandez agreed a contract with Inter Milan.

However, this latest development has certainly added some fuel to the fire, to say the very least.
