Adele has revealed that she became addicted to exercise after her marriage broke down to help ease her anxiety.
The 33-year-old singer wowed her fans when she showed off her 100lbs weight loss on her birthday in May 2020 and has now explained why she shed seven stones.
The world was stunned when London-born Adele posed in a tiny black minidress and in an interview with Vogue magazine, the singer said anxiety lead to her dramatic weight loss.
Stretching over a two-year period, Adele said that she became addicted to working out and did so three times a day.
She told the publication: “It was because of my anxiety. Working out, I would just feel better.
“It was never about losing weight, it was always about becoming strong and giving myself as much time every day without my phone. I got quite addicted to it. I work out two or three times a day.”
Adele said that her circumstances at the time helped as the regime wouldn’t be “doable” for many people but as she was not recording any material for her new album, which is due out soon, she was “basically unemployed” during that period.

She revealed that she used personal trainers to achieve her weight loss: “So I do my weights in the morning, then I normally hike or I box in the afternoon, and then I go and do my cardio at night.”
Ironically, Adele now reckons she eats more now, after the weight loss, then she did previously but she has slammed reports that she had tried fad diets to supplement the exercise.
The Someone Like You singer was angered with her response, saying: “Ain’t done that. No intermittent fasting. Nothing.
“If anything I eat more than I used to because I work out so hard. And also, “that whole thing of like, ‘Gets Revenge Body’… Oh my god. Suck my d**k!”
