After more than two decades on NBC, a ‘Today Show’ star reveals her departure.

Natalie Morales, the anchor of the Today Show for the past 22 years, is leaving the long-running morning show. She’ll continue to appear on NBC’s Dateline until the end of the year. She’ll be given a send-off on Today in the near future, as the date of her final broadcast has yet to be announced. Morales was “offered an opportunity she’s passionate about,” according to executive producer Tom Mazzarelli. ”

Morales wrote to her NBC News colleagues in an email on Friday, according to NBC News. “I remember starting out at WVIT in Hartford, CT, then making the huge and – at the time – terrifying leap to MSNBC and, alas, landing golden tickets to the Today Show and Dateline. Never in a million years did I imagine myself as this when I was thinking about what I wanted to do when I grew up! She went on to say that the “first half of my life” was full of “adventure, challenges, travel, way too many early wake-up calls, and yes, opportunities to witness history unfold and to tell inspiring and impactful stories that will always be in my mind’s highlight reel.” “At the end of the day,” she said, “I saw my family and so many others аt NBC grow during my two decаdes there,” but she now believes it’s time for her to “spreаd my own wings аnd pursue а new аdventure.” ”
