According to Duncan Castles, Barcelona goalkeeper Neto has been offered to both Arsenal and Tottenham as the Spaniards look to raise funds.

What’s the story?

Well, speaking on The Transfer Window Podcast, Castles said that Neto’s agent – Kia Joorabchian – has offered his client to the north Londoners.

At 19:40 in the YouTube video, Castles makes the claim, and adds that the 1-cap Brazil international earns a salary worth £4m-a-season.

The 32-year-old – who Barcelona paid £23.1m for – is stuck behind Marc-André ter Stegen at the Camp Nou, and looks set to be offloaded.

Interestingly, the Gunners have been trying to sign Aaron Ramsdale from Sheffield United, so perhaps they could turn to Neto as an alternative.

In Tottenham’s case, they have already signed a new goalkeeper in Pierluigi Gollini, who arrived on a season-long loan from Atalanta.

If Arsenal want Neto, surely he’s theirs

By the sounds of things, if Arsenal decide to sign Neto, the deal should be pretty straightforward.

In what sense? Well, it has been said that the South American is desperate to join the Gunners.

Add that to the fact he’s been offered to Mikel Arteta, and a deal should be doable if Arsenal offer an acceptable amount to Barcelona.

In our view, Arsenal shouldn’t break the bank to sign Neto.

Anything higher than the £17m Aston Villa spent on Emiliano Martinez would be pretty embarrassing, considering his success at Villa Park.

Bernd Leno is Arteta’s No.1, so it isn’t worth splashing significant amounts of cash to sign a deputy for the German.
