Britney Spears’ dad Jamie ‘fears she’ll suffer another terrifying meltdown’ after he ‘steps down as conservator’

BRITNEY Spears’ father Jamie “fears she will suffer another terrifying meltdown.”

The 69-year-old allegedly worries the fragile star could be tipped over the edge without proper supervision and medical care.

Britney already told Los Angeles judge Brenda Penny she does not want to engage in full time therapy or undergo evaluations.

However, Jamie – who earlier this month announced he would step down as conservator – is determined Britney should continue to seek long term medical care and independent psychiatric treatment.

A business associate of the 69-year-old exclusively told The Sun: “Jamie is adamant that stepping down as conservator does not mean giving up on Britney.

“He still wants what is best for her, he always has.

“He insists that the world doesn’t know the true precarious nature of her health and he is terrified that his daughter could suffer a repeat of the sad and terrifying meltdown that led her into trouble in the first place.

“It’s no secret that medication and therapy have been key to Britney’s stability for much of the past decade.

“So Jamie is worried about what comes next, he’s worried she will slip into the same cycle of destruction as before.”

The source said Jamie genuinely fears his daughter could revert back to addiction which could lead to her harming herself.

The insider added: “He sees independent medical and psychiatric care as vital for Britney’s future, he will not just walk away from her life just because he is not part of the Conservatorship.”

FATHER’S CONCERNS

Last week, The Sun unearthed a court filing which revealed that Jamie has kept the true depths of his superstar daughter’s mental health and drug addiction problems secret.

He claims the “highly confidential” information about Britney’s mental state is far worse than the public realized.

In the court papers, Jaime says his actions during the 13-year Conservatorship “saved” his daughter from “disaster.”

He also understands that Britney, 39, had felt “constrained,” but all treatments were joint decisions, made in her best interest to safeguard her from self-harm, the paperwork states.

Additionally, the Louisiana based businessman cites her personal conservator Jodi Montgomery as being responsible for many of the issues that Britney has complained about.

The source said: “Jamie has made it clear that Jodi Montgomery was in charge of medical matters, while he was just paying the bills. Now he has left, the buck stops with Jodi.

“But Jamie says he will not give up on his daughter. He will always have her best interests at heart.”

BRITNEY’S CONSERVATORSHIP

There is no love lost in public nor privately between Britney and her father.

The star was first placed in the strict Conservatorship back in 2008 following a public breakdown.

The #FreeBritney movement has cited Jamie as the key reason for Britney not being released from the binding arrangement.

Meanwhile, the singer’s attorney Mathew Rosengart has branded Jamie’s court claims about Britney’s health as “ongoing shameful & reprehensible attacks” and says the Conservatorship is “abusive.”

The next case hearing will be heard on September 29.

SHOCKING CLAIMS

In the past, Britney has made a number of shocking claims about the Conservatorship.

She once said she wants to have another baby and marry – but claimed her “conservator won’t let her.”

While speaking in court, the hitmaker said: “I want to get married and have a baby.

“I wanted to take the IUD out and have a baby but conservator won’t let me because they don’t want me to have a baby.”

The mother of two also claimed her family “lived off” her $60million fortune for 13 years and that she was “forced to take Lithium” as “punishment.”

Additionally, the pop star compared the “abusive” Conservatorship to sex trafficking, stating in court: “In California, the only similar thing to this is called sex trafficking, making anyone work against their will.

“And taking all their possessions away, credit card, cash, phone, passport.”
