Britney Spears’ father has agreed to step down as conservator of her estate and reminded the world he is still her dad and will always love her unconditionally.
According to new legal documents, obtained by The Blast, Jamie Spears has agreed to step aside in her ongoing conservatorship case but wants to make sure the transition is done in an orderly way. Of course, Mr. Spears isn’t going down without a bit of a fight and is pointing out that there are “no actual grounds” for removing him as conservator.
“There are, in fact, no actual grounds for suspending or removing Mr. Spears as the Conservator of the Estate … and it is highly debatable whether a change in conservator at this time would be in Ms. Spears’ best interests,” Jamie states.

He continued, “Nevertheless, even as Mr. Spears is the unremitting target of unjustified attacks, he does not believe that a public battle with his daughter over his continuing service as her conservator would be in her best interests. So, even though he must contest this unjustified Petition for his removal, Mr. Spears intends to work with the Court and his daughter’s new attorney to prepare for an orderly transition to a new conservator.”
Jamie Spears went on the offense in the new filing, attacking his estranged wife — Lynne Spears — claiming she had little if any involvement with the conservatorship of Britney’s life for the past 13 years. He claims her credibility is undermined by the fact that Britney herself refused to see her mother while locked up in a mental facility in 2019.

Britney’s father gives himself credit for essentially saving Britney’s life when she was “in crisis, desperately in need of help” all those years ago, saying, “Not only was she suffering mentally and emotionally, but she was also being manipulated by predators and in financial distress. Mr. Spears came to his daughter’s rescue to protect her.” Plus, he wants to make it clear he never forced the pop star to do anything against her will, including any performances.
Interestingly, Jamie included in the filing a passage that reads like he is looking for a little bit of sympathy for the work he has put in over the years — and trying to leave on a high note. “Regardless of his formal title, Mr. Spears will always be Ms. Spears’ father, he will always love her unconditionally, and he will always look out for her best interests,” it reads.
Britney’s lawyer wasn’t moved by the last-ditch effort to clear the air, blasting her father, saying “We look forward to continuing our vigorous investigation into the conduct of Mr. Spears, and others, over the past 13 years, while he reaped millions of dollars from his daughter’s estate, and I look forward to taking Mr. Spears’s sworn deposition in the near future. In the interim, rather than making false accusations and taking cheap shots at his own daughter, Mr. Spears should step aside immediately.”
