Cat Meows Persistently and Saves Its 83-Year-Old Owner from Death

Officers in Bodmin, UK, rescued an 83-year-old missing woman thanks to her cat’s timely intervention. The Bodmin police shared the news on Twitter, crediting the loyal pet with saving its owner from death.

A rescue operation in Bodmin has become a highly discussed topic on social media since the police department outed the news. A Tweet from them confirmed that the victim, an 83-year-old unnamed woman, was rescued thanks to her cat, Piran’s constant meowing.

Reports show that the elderly woman fell down a ravine near her home, with “incredibly difficult access” and uneven terrain. After she remained missing for over an hour, neighbors grew concerned about her whereabouts and alerted the police.

Emergency crews from Bodmin commenced a search for the elderly woman. A member of the public reported spotting the woman’s cat in the corner of a large maize field.

The cat’s persistent meows led the person to discover the woman, where she had fallen about 70 feet down a steep embankment.

Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service, the water rescue team, and Cornwall Air Ambulance sprung into action immediately, rescuing the victim.

The success of the operation was thanks to the collective efforts of all emergency teams on ground and Piran the cat. Bodmin Police tweeted:

“The female was hoisted back up to the field on a stretcher via line rescue. She was then taken to hospital via Air Ambulance in stable condition. Piran the cat saved the day!”

A woman, identified as Tamar Longmuir, claimed to be the neighbor who found the victim in the ravine. Taking to Twitter, she thanked Bodmin Police for assisting in finding her neighbor.

She also gave an update on the victim’s health and that of her cat, confirming they were both faring well via the comment section. Other tweeters joined the immense show of gratitude, commending the cat and the emergency crews for their rescue efforts.

One pointed out how easily everything could have turned for the worse with one wrong move, saying: “There is something great about the place we live when if things go wrong for you, the emergency services turn out like this. Great work, everyone. Could so easily have resulted in a tragedy.”

Most commenters expressed relief that the woman was doing okay, with one adding that Piran deserved a special treat. In response to that, Longmuir affirmed that the cat had indeed gotten lots of treats courtesy of her.

Several commenters acknowledged the contribution of “the member of the public,” who found Piran and the victim, to the epic rescue. One person commented: “It’s fantastic that kind and caring neighbors do still exist. From someone far away who doesn’t know anyone, a huge thank you.”

While commending the rescue team, an eyewitness, who pleaded anonymity, told news outlets that Piran’s persistent meowing was key in finding the victim, adding that the outcome could have been much worse.

Such amazing team effort from the neighbors, emergency rescue teams, and a loyal cat was all it took to save the life of a helpless woman.
