Charles Shaughnessy Is the New Victor Cassadine on GH!

When the casting was first announced, the soap was keeping mum about exactly who he would be playing but as of the Sept. 2 episode, it was revealed that Charles Shaughnessy is the new Victor Cassadine on GENERAL HOSPITAL!

Shaughnessy may be best known for his work in the primetime sitcom THE NANNY, but to daytime fans, he’s better known as super-spy Shane Donovan on DAYS OF OUR LIVES, a role he played from 1984 through 1992 and has continued to reprise periodically over the years since. He can also currently be seen in the second season of Passionflix’s popular series DRIVEN.

News broke of Shaughnessy’s joining the cast of GH back at the beginning of August, but as the soap did with Cameron Mathison, details of what character he would be playing were kept tightly under wraps. And while GH did promote Mathison’s first appearance as a recast Drew Cain, Shaughnessy’s debut was kept secret so viewers would be just as surprised as Obrecht when they saw him as a very-much-still-alive Victor Cassadine!

Obrecht should have made extra sure she killed Victor!ABC

Victor was last seen back in 2014 when he was wrapped up in the drama at the Chrichton-Clark clinic and after he was shot and left for dead by Obrecht, the Cassadine was presumed dead when he set off an explosion to destroy the clinic and the evidence it contained. Of course, as soap fans know, death is rarely permanent, especially when you’re talking about the Cassadine clan on GH! Helena, Stavros, Nikolas… they’re harder to kill than roaches!

So keep watching GH to watch Shaughnessy put his own stamp on the character and to find out what Victor’s latest scheme is!
