“Superman” star Christopher Reeve’s youngest child, who was a minor when his father passed away in 2004, is already a grown man. He not only keeps his father’s legacy alive in many ways but also looks very much like him.
William Reeve is the only child of the celebrity couple formed by actors Christopher and Dana Reeve, who were married for 12 years until Christopher’s passing. Although Will was 12 when his dad died, his upbringing was very much influenced by him.
Unfortunately, just a year after losing his father, William also lost his mom to lung cancer. His other family members include two older half-siblings, Matthew and Alexandra, from his dad’s previous relationship with Gae Exton.
WILLIAM ONCE PURSUED ACTING
While all three children of the “Superman” star have been in some way related to the film industry, William chose to pursue acting like his look-alike dad. He first made his TV debut in 1997 before appearing on “The Brooke Ellison Story,” directed by his dad in 2004.
He then worked as a voice actor on 2006’s animated feature “Everyone’s Hero,” also co-directed by his father before his passing. After that, he decided to switch careers.
SHIFTING TO SPORTS REPORTING
After focusing on his education, he then pursued a career in sports journalism, something that reminds him of his dad. In 2015, William earned a spot on ESPN’s SportsCenter and opened up about the connection it has to Christopher, saying:
“We shared a very deep bond in general, but sports was definitely a major component of our family bond.”
HIS JOURNALISM CAREER
After working for ESPN, Reeve now currently works as a reporter for ABC News. He often shares updates on his life on Instagram for his supporters to see.
Nowadays, William also serves as an ambassador for his parents’ foundation to keep raising awareness on the issues that they were devoted to fixing. He and his siblings usually appear alongside one another at the foundation’s events.
THE CHRISTOPHER AND DANA REEVE FOUNDATION
Christopher was taking part in an equestrian competition in 1995 when he fell from his horse and got badly injured. This left him unable to move from the neck down for the rest of his life.
Instead of letting his acquired disability bring him down, Christopher turned to directing and advocacy, founding the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation and the Reeve-Irvine Research Center to help spinal cord injury survivors.
ABOUT CHRISTOPHER REEVE
The late actor was born Christopher D’Olier Reeve on September 25, 1952, in New York City. He studied at Cornell University and the Julliard School in New York.
He began his career in the Broadway play “A Matter of Gravity” alongside Katharine Hepburn and the soap opera “Love of Life.” It wasn’t long until he got the opportunity to star in a major production, though.
HIS BREAKTHROUGH ROLE
Christopher was relatively a newcomer when he landed the role of “Superman.” He portrayed the character in four feature films from 1978 to 1987.
Other remarkable acting appearances of Christopher were “Somewhere in Time,” “The Bostonians,” and “The Remains of the Day,” which earned him praise from the critics.

CHRISTOPHER’S LAST FEW YEARS
The actor spent his last nine years as a quadriplegic because of his spinal cord injury, but he went on to portray wheelchair-using characters on several TV movies, apart from doing some voice work.
In 2003-2004, he appeared in the series “Smallville,” which focused on the younger years of the Superman/Clark Kent character. He played the brilliant and wealthy scientist Dr. Virgil Swann before dying from complications of an infection.
Last Father’s Day, Will shared how, during his recent assignment in Alaska, he finally got to see whales up close, something he used to dream about as a child after seeing his dad on a National Geographic documentary about whales.
During the experience, he wrote how he felt his dad with him and honored him in the process. To date, whales remain his favorite animal, and it’s all thanks to Christopher.
