Coco Gauff to launch her first New Balance collaboration

She may have been born in 2004, but when it comes to style, Coco Gauff has a soft spot for the ’90s.

“It’s probably my biggest inspiration,” the 17-year-old tennis star told Page Six Style at Tuesday’s opening of the American Express Courts at Pier 76.

Gauff has a busy couple of weeks ahead; not only will she take the stage at the US Open next week, but she’s also preparing to launch her first-ever fashion line and sneaker design with New Balance, her sponsor since 2018.

“It’s coming out on the 26th of August,” she shared. “It’s definitely inspired by the ‘90s — a lot of oversized sweatpants and little shirts, which is what I like to wear off-court.”

In addition to Gauff’s color-blocked, blinged-out take on the New Balance 327 shoe ($99.99) — which features a neon pink “N” logo and two gold chains as a nod to her love of jewelry — fans can also expect plenty of graffiti-print finds, like the black-and-white crop top ($34.99) the athlete wore with buckled bike shorts ($39.99) during our chat.

She recommends pairing the pieces with an equally bold beauty look, as she did for the campaign.

“Off-court, I really enjoy makeup, although I’m not good at it,” she joked. “I like a lot of color on the eyeshadow!”

And while Gauff will defend the celeb-loved cycling short all day long, there’s another (far more polarizing) Y2K-inspired trend she just can’t get behind: low-rise denim.

“I cannot do it,” she said.
