‘Delirious’ mum reveals she bit her sister’s hand during labour after thinking she was handing her sausage roll

IT’S SAFE to say that giving birth may be one of the best but toughest things a woman will do and if things get a little bit weird, who are we to judge, right?

When you mix the excitement of welcoming a baby, the nerves of having to deliver the child, the pain that comes with it and then throw in a whole host of pain relief – birthing stories are always a real treat.

Mums have been sharing the weirdest things they have done during labour, with one woman confessing to biting her sister’s hand while in the throes of having her son.

Her sister had reached out her hand for her to take in support, but so “delirious” the mum instead bit her hand as she thought she was being handed a sausage roll.

Posting to Mumsnet, the mum revealed: “Bit my sisters hand during DS [darling son’s] labour. She won’t let me live it down.

“I’d had so many drugs and god knows what to numb the pain, wasn’t allowed to eat anything as I was high risk for a c-section, was so hungry and I heard someone mention a sausage roll (nobody did apparently) and I thought she was handing it to me to eat.”

The mum confessed: “I was very delirious! She is laughing about it now. I feel so awful but AIBU [am I being unreasonable] to think it’s not the craziest thing someone has done?”

Fellow mums were left in hysterics at the confession, with one commenting: “Oh no. your poor sister. I bet that hurt. poor you too.”

Another said: “Omg that’s hilarious! Definitely a story that’s going to be told every year on little ones birthday hahaha.”

“That’s bloody fantastic,” posted one more, while one person couldn’t help but joke: “I really fancy a sausage roll now.”

Others were inspired by the post and ‘fessed up to doing something very similar while they were in labour too.

One mum revealed: “I was coming round from anaesthetic and was aware of someone gently tapping my cheek. I thought it was my DH [darling husband] so I grabbed the hand and kept kissing it. It was the anaesthetist.”

Another shared: “My friend who is one of the calmest people I know tried to bite the midwife during labour.”

The mum’s post even drew in midwives, with one revealing: “I’m a midwife….a woman once punched me in the face so hard mid contraction my glasses flew off my head.”
