Dominick Cruz has responded to Sean O’Malley’s request for a fight on December 11th.
The former UFC bantamweight champion stated that he is currently looking for a fight with someone ranked higher than him, and O’Malley does not fit that description. He then wished O’Malley luck in his search for a ranked opponent for his next bout inside the octagon.
“I have a date with a stud who is ranked higher than me. Exactly what you’re looking for. As a result, I understand. “May the force be with you as you figure it out for yourself,” Dominick Cruz tweeted. I have a date with a stud who is ranked higher than me. Exactly what you’re looking for. As a result, I understand. May the force be with you as you figure it out on your own. ‘Sugar’ has yet to break into the top 15 in the bantamweight division despite being 6-1 in the UFC. Sean O’Malley understandably wants to fight a former champion such as Dominick Cruz next. A victory over Cruz would have cemented O’Malley’s status as a legitimate contender in the division.
Sean O’Malley wants a better contract for fighting ranked contenders
O’Malley’s fight selection is influenced by the fact that he has yet to break into the bantamweight rankings. Because of the high risks and low rewards, O’Malley recently stated that he does not want to fight ranked contenders. Sugar claims that he is paid the same amount to fight ranked contenders as he is for fighting unranked fighters.
Fighting easier opponents and earning the same amount of money makes more sense for him. If the UFC offers him a better contract, O’Malley will be ready to fight ranked contenders.
“For me, I have a contract to fight a certain number of fights, and I’m going to be paid a certain amount of money whether I fight Louis Smolka, who I was supposed to fight, or Petr Yan, the UFC’s No. 1 bantamweight. I’m paid the same as everyone else. On the No Jumper podcast, Sean O’Malley said, “I’m going to fight this dude, and I’m going to fight this dude on a Conor McGregor pay-per-view.” In his next fight, O’Malley is expected to face Brian Kelleher for
. Kelleher was even contacted by O’Malley’s coаch, who аsked if he wаs аvаilаble for а December dаte. The fight hаs yet to be confirmed, but O’Mаlley’s recent cаllouts suggest he wаnts to fight а rаnked contender next.
