THE feud between Drake and Kanye West looks to have be reignited after the ‘Certified Lover Boy’ leaked an unreleased recording by Kanye.
Drake appeared as a guest DJ on SiriusXM’s Sound 42 radio show on September 4 and played an unreleased song by West called ‘Life Of The Party’.
The track features a guest verse from OutKast‘s Andre 3000 as well as a soundbite from a video of DMX and his daughter on a slingshot ride.
On the track West appears to take a pot shot at Drake, detailing a recently surfaced text exchange between himself, the Toronto rapper and fashion designer Virgil Abloh.
“I put Virgil and Drake on the same text/ And it wasn’t about the matching arc’teryx or Kid Cudi dress/ Just told these grown men stop it with the funny s**t/ I might hire the whole team from ACG/So don’t text me like I’m Juanita JCV,” Ye raps on the track, according to the NME.
Towards the end of the track he raps, apparently referencing his MAGA hat: “Told Drake don’t play with me on GD/ And he sent that message to everybody/ So if I hit you with a ‘WYD’/ You better hit me with, ‘Yes sir, I’m writing everything you need’/ I told you I was gonna take the summer back/ So any of the cap, won’t take none of that/ Where my muthaf**kin’ red hat?”
Drake is already making headlines after dropping his new album overnight as backlash grows to his decision to give R Kelly a writing credit on track TSU, while it remains unclear what direct involvement the disgraced artist had with the project.
The controversial move comes as R Kelly is currently standing trial in New York on child sex abuse charges.
One listener wrote: “The biggest shock for me is R. Kelly getting a writing credit on the album. That’s totally avoidable.
“I think these superstars are either often out of touch or they don’t mind the pushback from moves like this. Drake could easily have passed on this one.”
Another slammed both Drake’s and Kanye’s new albums: “R. Kelly, while currently on trial for sexual abuse of countless Black women and girls, is going to be making money off the most anticipated album of the year thanks to Drake giving him a songwriting credit on #CertifiedLoverBoy And that’s why both #CLB and #DONDA are trash.”
The credit does not necessarily mean Drake worked with R Kelly on the track.
