Eric Stonestreet reacts to claims he’s ‘too old’ for fiancée

Eric Stonestreet had a hilarious response to critics who claimed he was “too old” to be marrying fiancée Lindsay Schweitzer.

The “Modern Family” alum reposted their engagement announcement photo to his Instagram Story but edited Schweitzer’s face to make her look more wrinkled and aged.

“Apparently a lot of people think I look too old, as a 49 year old man, to be engaged to my almost 42 year old fiancée,” he captioned the photo Wednesday.,

“Look, she can’t help that she looks so great at 42 and I can’t help that I apparently look like her grandad so, I fixed it for everyone,” Stonestreet added.

Fans reassured the couple that it shouldn’t matter what they look like and wished them lots of happiness.

“❤️You are both perfect the way you are. I love the way you both look and most important.❤ LOVE EACH OTHER❤Who cares what people think,” one person commented on the post. “Congratulations!! Wishing you both endless blessings and beautiful memories together❤.”

“You look great without any filters! Congratulations,” another person agreed.

Others commended Stonestreet for having such an upbeat response to the trolls.

“Why do people feel the need to make those comments. I love your response 🙌 congrats 🍾,” someone wrote.

“Hahaha. Screw them. So happy for you both !!!❤️❤️❤️👏👏👏,” another commented.

Stonestreet announced he was engaged to longtime girlfriend Schweitzer, a pediatric nurse, earlier this week. He posted photos of the pair to social media where she was seen wearing an engagement ring.

“She said, ‘She’d have her people call my people,’” he jokingly captioned the photo.

The duo met at the Big Slick charity weekend in Kansas City in 2016.

The “Secret Life of Pets” star opened up about his love for Schweitzer in 2017, saying on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” “She calms me — she calms my nerves. I’m a very high-strung person.”
