Fabrizio Romano has said on the Don Robbie YouTube channel that Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are unlikely to get Lautaro Martinez from Inter Milan if Romelu Lukaku goes to Chelsea.

The well-known and well-respected journalist has said that Arsenal have enquired about the striker, but the 23-year-old Argentina international wants to play in the Champions League.

Inter are unlikely to sell the former Racing Club striker if Lukkau goes to Chelsea, according to Romano.

The Times are among a number of media outlets who have reported that Chelsea are interested in signing Lukaku from Inter in the summer transfer window and are close to a deal.

Romano said on the Don Robbie YouTube channel: “The situation with Arsenal is also really quiet.

“They were enquiring about Lautaro Martinez, but as I said, it was also really difficult from the player’s side because he wants to play in the Champions League and these kinds of things.

“It is not an easy one for Arsenal, and same for Atletico Madrid because also Atletico Madrid were working on Lautaro Martinez.

“But, if Lukaku goes to Chelsea, and there are huge chances, I think it will be really difficult for Lautaro to leave Inter.”

Arsenal transfer possible?

Inter do have financial problems, but if they sell Lukaku to Chelsea for big money, then they will not have to sell another striker.

Remember, the Italian champions also sold Achraf Hakimi to Paris Saint-Germain earlier this summer.

Inter will play in the Champions League next season and will also be looking to retain the Scudetto.

Now, of course, Arsenal are a big club and a global brand, but Inter are massive too.

Unless Arsenal make an offer that is simply too good to turn down, it does seem unlikely at the moment that Martinez will move to the North London club.
