When choosing to eat out most of us expect our preferences to be catered to as much as possible – whether that’s how well done you like your steak or asking for no tomatoes on a salad.
But, chefs and waiting staff also have limitations on what they’re able to do and the time they have to do it in.
Which means it’s a give-and-take between the diner and cook to create the best experience.
It also means that some demands are too much to expect when eating out. Such was the case of “Alan and Karen” who submitted a typed request to the eatery on how to prepare their burgers.
And, having spotted it on Facebook, social media users slammed the couple, reports Tyla.
In a snap, the request was titled “How to prepare Alan and Karen’s burgers to go.”
And, the demanding list said: “1. All buns in one container.
“All meats in one container. PLEASE burger patties as RARE as possible (just brown each side).
“All veggies in one container. All cheeses in one container.
“Of course fries in separate containers.
“Sauces or other items separate also. THANK YOU!”
The person who uploaded the snap to Facebook captioned the snap: “Ok, so I don’t usually post, but this I couldn’t resist… two guests came in today with their own printed instructions on how they wanted their food prepared.
In the comments, people found the statement pretty funny.
One person noted: “I’d be making them pay for all those extra containers.”
“I would have looked at this & said f**k no,” added another. “Absolutely not. That’s entirely too many containers.
“I would have responded with ‘this times ridiculous and the order will not be filled this way. Either your burger comes made or make it yourself at home’.”
A third said: “Sounds like they need to go to a grocery store,” while a fourth laughed: “The kind of people who end up with publicly unspeakable things happening to their food!”
And another commented: “Why do they want build-a-burger??””
But, not everyone was so annoyed by the fussy demands. Some pointed out that at least they were clear with their request.
They wrote: “Hey at least they’re direct and know what they want.”
While another added: “I’ll say this… yes it’s annoying but at least they didn’t try to ramble all that off to the server when they got there.
“You can pass the paper off to chef and make it easy on them also. A nice tip is def in order though.”
And, it’s important to remember that some folks are picky for reasons that can’t necessarily be controlled such as sensory issues and AFRID (avoidant food intake disorder). Though we have no idea whether this is the case for Alan and Karen.
