Family’s cluttered house finally tidied up and renovated – boosting value by £60k

A family-of-five was given an incredible upgrade to their cluttered home with the finished look adding an extra £60,000 to their property’s value.

Trevor Oram, wife Julie and their three daughters, Jade, Aiyana and Sophie had lived in their three-bed home in Nottingham for 18 years – over which time it had been filled with mess.

They appeared on a Channel 5 programme and turned to Nick Knowles and his trusted team for help to transform their home to a stylish yet comfortable place to live.

Mum Julie explained to the presenter that the couple had seen the changes in the house in the past 18 years as the family frew from two to five.

The Oram family’s house was filled with clutter, which consumed a lot of space in the house

The storage room was packed with a mix of everything – from sewing machines, clothes, shopping bags to books, plates and dishes. The living-cum-dining area was also jammed with musical instruments with little space to walk around.

In fact, every room in their house was filled with junk.

The first step Nick and his team had to do was to remove all the clutter before moving on to some new planning along with some paintwork and furniture purchases.

When it was completed, Nick invited the Oram family back into the house. Their eyes were filled with joy as they walk to see a brand-new kitchen.

Nick says: “It’s a stunning space and it welcomes the Oram family to gather for meals and they have a dedicated music corner.

“Switching the colour schemes to blue and white unites the dining and with a modern, updated kitchen created an illusion of more space.”

Trevor looked around and commented: “It feels like a new home. It’s got the similarity but at the same time it feels new as well. Absolutely love it.”

The team cleaned up the storage room and turned it into a little craft corner for Julie, with a fitted storage cupboard to pack her “hordes of memories”.

When the couple saw their bedroom for the first time, they couldn’t help but say: “This is different, I was not expecting this.”

Nick turned to them and grinned: “Well this is how bedroom supposed to look.”

The makeover took the Oram family home from a market value of £140,000 to a value of between £180,000 and £200,000.
