MONDAY night’s episode of 9-1-1 left viewers wondering if Kenneth Choi’s character, Chimney, is leaving the show.
It appears Chimney will not be returning until he finds Maddie the mother of his child.
What happened in 9-1-1 on Monday night?
Toward the end of Monday night’s episode, called Home and Away, Chimney opted to leave his post at firehouse 18 to search for Maddie, the love of his life who went missing.
The episode focuses on the effects of Maddie’s disappearance, and Chimney learns shocking information that led up to it. Chimney found out that Maddie took their daughter, Jee-Yun, to the hospital without telling him, and she called her brother, Buck, shortly before she disappeared. Tension grows between Buck and Chimney, because Buck did not tell him about that.
When Chimney revealed he would be leaving, he reassured his best friend Hen that he would be back once he had found Maddie.
Is Chimney leaving 9-1-1 for good?
It is more than likely that Chimney will not be leaving the show, although he may be missing for a few episodes.
Other than his expedition to find Maddie, there is no evidence suggesting that Chimney’s time is up.
Why did Maddie leave?
Jennifer Love Hewitt, the actress who plays Maddie, recently gave birth in real life, so it has been speculated that her character’s disappearance is simply a way for her to take maternity leave.
Based on Chimney’s assertion that he would be returning once he finds Maddie, fans speculate that the pair will not be gone from the show for too long.
When did Kenneth Choi join 9-1-1?
Kenneth was cast as Chimney in late 2017, and made his first appearance on the show in 2018.
The 49-year-old’s character plays as a LAFD firefighter, and he has a main role on the show.
Kenneth has also starred in plenty of other television shows and films, including The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story, Ironside, Sons of Anarchy, and Suicide Squad.
