Everyone’s favorite or least favorite member of the Royal Family, (there seems to be no in-between) Meghan Markle, was recently absent from former President Barack Obama’s 60th birthday bash. The British media is having a field day over this! The actress who shares the August 4th birthday with the former president reportedly really wanted to get an invite to the party at Martha’s Vineyard. After a ton of backlash, President Obama narrowed down the guest list to a mere 475 guests! Meghan and Harry did not make the cut.
Who is Saying She’s Bitter?
The news about Meghan being bitter about the snub of course, comes to us from across the pond. Where they are certainly not eager to give Meghan Markle a win on any subject. Royal correspondent Angela Levin told the British paper, The Sun, that her sources told her Meghan was very upset about the snub. Levin mentioned,
“I am told that despite claiming she was unable to attend, Meghan desperately wanted to be the special guest at the Obama’s amazing party,”
Other Sources Claim The Couple Is Still Very Much In Lockdown
Other sources close to Meghan claim that even if she got the invite, she would’ve had to decline. Notice that both sources agree on the fact that the Sussex’s were snubbed from the Obama bash. However, pro-Meghan sources claim that Harry and her are still very much in lockdown mode as the COVID-19 pandemic rages on. The couple would’ve been in no hurry to jet off to the east coast and leave behind baby Lilibet Diana and son Archie. Again, though, it wasn’t like Obama gave them much of a choice!
What She Did Do For Her Birthday
Meghan did not let the Obama snub stop her from celebrating her own birthday. She took advantage of the special occasion that is turning 40 years old to launch an initiative for the couple’s Archewell charity. Aimed at helping people get back into the workforce after the pandemic. She explained the initiative in a video featuring Melissa McCarthy saying,
“Because I’m turning 40, I’m asking 40 friends to donate 40 minutes of their time to help mentor a woman who is mobilizing back into the workforce,”
Are They Going Back To The UK Anytime Soon?
As Harry got back to L.A. after attending the unveiling of the statue for Princess Diana, it became apparent that he and Meghan don’t have an upcoming UK trip in the cards. At least, from what we know, no members of the Royal Family have made the trip to Southern California to meet Lilibet Diana. The girl who is 8th in line to the throne could make her first UK trip in the summer of 2022. Which is when a concert is scheduled for the Queen’s jubilee. That’s a long way away, though.
