ITV review of Gordon, Gino, and Fred Go Greek: More inane banter from the Top Gear school of lads-on-tour television.

In Gordon, Gino, and Fred Go Greek!, Gordon Ramsay, Gino D’Acampo, and Fred Sirieix set the tone with dad rock and schoolboy humour as they island-hopped their way across the Aegean Sea. Ramsay and D’Acampo are award-winning chefs, and Sirieix is the most famous maitre d’ in the UK (courtesy of First Dates ). However, this was more of a hearty serving of lads-on-tour telly than a gastronomic odyssey. As a result, it served as a cheery, if slightly repetitive, reminder that nothing beats three middle-aged men left to their own devices for broad banter and fnar-fnar giggles.

On a catamaran moored off the coast of Crete, the trio began by sipping sparkling wine. “It’s called Doulafakis,” Sirieix explained of the bubbly concoction. His accent was on the middle syllable, which sounded obnoxious. Like mandrills, Ramsay and D’Acampo hooted.

Soon, Fleetwood Mac’s “Sympathy for the Devil” and “Sympathy for the Devil” (along with a smattering of Abba) were blasting from the speakers, and the trio was diving for a rare clawless lobster.

After that, it was off to Crete to sample the local pastries. The foodie adventure continued in Santorini and Mykonos, where Ramsay and D’Acampo tried their hand at rolling sausages – really just an excuse for Ramsay to show off his wit: “This shouldn’t be a problem for an experienced sausage-handler like Gino,” he snickered.

Gordon, Gino, and Fred Go Greek! was essentially a “classic” Top Geаr with more wink-nudge jokes thаn а Cаrry On… double-bill. This will hаve gone down well with those who enjoy both low-brow chortles аnd high-end cuisine.

Viewers аged 12 аnd up, on the other hаnd, mаy hаve given up on а trаvel documentаry thаt prioritized rib-tickling over insight.
