James Holzhauer, ‘Jeopardy!’ fans cheer Mike Richards’ exit

News that former “Jeopardy!” executive producer Mike Richards was fired made headlines on Tuesday, and no one is happier than champ James Holzhauer.

The champion contestant expressed his satisfaction for all the world to see in a series of jovial tweets.

“Do I think Mike Richards’s podcast comments were appropriate for polite society? No. But did he deserve the benefit of the doubt for the job he did running Jeopardy? Also no,” Holzhauer wrote.

He then followed his tweet up with a GIF of the scene from “The Wizard of Oz” where the munchkins sing, “Ding-Dong! The Witch Is Dead.”

Richards, 46, was under fire for his past sexist comments and he was subsequently fired from hosting “Jeopardy!” last week.

On Tuesday, a statement sent to the staff of “Jeopardy!” and “Wheel of Fortune” from Suzanne Prete, a Sony Pictures Television executive, was obtained by The Post.

“I’m writing to let you know that Mike will no longer be serving as EP of Wheel and Jeopardy! effective immediately.  We had hoped that when Mike stepped down from the host position at Jeopardy! it would have minimized the disruption and internal difficulties we have all experienced these last few weeks. That clearly has not happened,” the memo read.

Game show fans took to Twitter to express their joy over Richards’ exit. “About time. Sony has absolutely botched this whole process. Dragged out a crisis much longer than it needed to be,” one user said.

“We literally told y’all to pick LeVar Burton, and now look…..,” added another fan. “Remember July, when we had no idea who “Mike Richards” was?” asked one user.

Another fan chimed in, “So that Mike Richards guy is fired from Jeopardy so we can all go back to not having heard of him.”
