Jose Mourinho wants to sign Chelsea striker and West Ham United target Tammy Abraham, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

What’s the story?

SkySport journalist Di Marzio is reporting on his website today that AS Roma head coach Mourinho has now joined the race for Arsenal and Atalanta target Abraham.

The former Tottenham Hotspur head coach wants to sign a striker as Edin Dzeko is on his way to Inter Milan as a replacement for Chelsea-bound Romelu Lukaku.

Threat for West Ham

Roma’s interest in Chelsea striker Abraham is a blow for West Ham.

That’s because the Hammers are also keen on signing the former Aston Villa loanee.

Well-known and well-respected journalist Fabrizio Romano has reported interest from the Hammers in Abraham.

TalkSPORT reported this month that West Ham want the Chelsea striker, described as “unbelievable” by Manchester City attacking midfielder Jack Grealish during an Instagram Q&A last year when asked about the England international.

Now, of course, West Ham are a big club who will play in the Europa League this season.

The Hammers will also look to challenge for the Premier League top four.

However, Mourinho is one of the greatest managers of all time, and working under the Portuguese and playing for an ambitious Roma team in Serie A could be very appealing to Abraham.

Abraham scored 15 goals and gave three assists in the Premier League for Chelsea in 2019-20.

The 23-year-old made just 12 starts in the Premier League and only three starts in the Champions League for the Blues last season.
