KELLY Clarkson’s ex Brandon Blackstock was “extremely jealous” of her hugely successful career, sources claimed.
The singer, 39, announced her divorce from the music manager, 44, in June 2020 and can now “finally enjoy her success without feeling ashamed”.
A source told Us Weekly: “The relationship had been on the rocks for a long time.
“She was the high-income earner with a wildly successful talk show, and is the star of another hit show The Voice.
“Brandon was extremely jealous of it and made her know it.”
The insider added: “Kelly doesn’t take credit for her success but shares it with the team she works with. It’s just who she is.”
The Breakaway singer has sold millions of albums since winning American Idol in 2002 and has gone on to expand into television.
Kelly is a judge on singing competition The Voice and has her own talk show, The Kelly Clarkson Show.
Kelly tied the knot with Brandon in 2013 and they share two children – daughter River, 7, and son Remington, 5.
The Because Of You hitmaker filed for divorce last June and was later granted primary custody.
In the midst of their messy divorce, she finally has something to celebrate as a judge has fully upheld the singer’s prenuptial agreement that Brandon had been fighting.
She is having to dish out $150,000 per month in spousal support, along with around $45,000 a month for child support.
But Brandon will be the one paying for the upkeep of their sprawling Montana ranch, which costs around $81,000 a month to run.
Kelly, who previously asked the court to terminate his ability to seek spousal support, has an impressive monthly income more than $1.5million, while her ex is earning around $10,000 a month.
Court documents say the divorce case is “complex” and there has been “extensive litigation” regarding issues of child custody, visitation, discovery and spousal support.
There will also be a trial regarding the premarital agreement.
Meanwhile, new court documents seen by The Sun show Brandon has given up on showbiz life since their split,
He is now a full-time rancher, despite still representing county singer Blake Shelton.
