Labrador terrified of the dark learns to use torch and has viewers in stitches

It’s that time of year again, the nights are drawing in and darkness is something we all have to face on an evening.

For some braving it is harder than others – not least this adorable dog called Jake.

But the practical pup, who lives in New Zealand, has mastered the art of using a torch and holds it in his mouth to light the way as he heads out to go for a wee, the Mirror reports.

Jake, a Labrador/Huntaway cross breed is handed the light source from his owner in the cute TikTok clip.

The pooch takes the torch in his mouth and trots off into the pitch black garden to spend a penny, with the caption explaining “this is how he goes out at night.”

Jake waited patiently to be given the torch

The bright boy can be seen using the beam of the torch to guide him through the darkness before stopping to have a wee.

The video, which was uploaded by TikTok user @jakeyboo20, was a huge hit on the video sharing app, with over 5.6 million views and over 586,000 likes.

Viewers were clearly impressed by Jake’s skills, with one commenting: “Man that dog has a bright future!”

Another equally astounded commenter wrote: “I need this for my dog, he is afraid of the dark.”

A third added: “My black lab is scared too, this is adorable.”

Black Labradors are known for their loving nature.

In a competition hosted by TeamDogs, they were voted second in the search to find the UK’s favourite dog breed.

They narrowly missed out on the top spot to Staffordshire Bull Terriers.

Jake isn’t the only Labrador who’s gone viral of late.

An adorable pup’s reaction to his “first day at work” left people emotional.

In the photo shared on Reddit, it shows a Labrador leaning on his owner with a sad face.

The man, who appeared to be a security guard, was looking straight when the dog’s emotions caught everyone’s attention.

He looked glum as his head was captured leaning on the man doing his job.
