A mum who was happy to find two “lady bugs” in her home was shocked to find out what the insects actually where after she posted a picture of them online.
A Reddit-user who claimed to have an “affinity” with the colourful insect posted on the popular forum site, sharing her happiness that the bugs were in her home, Birmingham Live reported.
She wrote: “I’ve always felt drawn to ladybugs. I don’t know what it is. I just feel connected to them.
“This morning on my bed I found a mama and a baby ladybug on my bed and I feel like today is my day and something beautiful is going to happen!
“Do y’all have any good luck signs? Share your stories!”
But the mum didn’t get the responses she was expecting. Instead, people flocked to let the woman know that the insects were not lady bugs, but bedbugs.
“Tho….those are bedbugs, ma’am,” one said.
“Those things will make your life a living hell,” a second agreed.
Another person wrote: “I always feel so terrible when anyone gets bed bugs. Those things will make your life a living hell.”
Another wrote: “Absolute hell. My parents let my sisters friend stay in my room while I was away from college. When I got home. Bedbugs everywhere.

“The strangest thing is my parents didn’t pay for an Exterminator. I was right out of college and broke. My parents make six figures. So I had to go on Reddit’s bedbug place and deal with it myself.
“My sisters and I lived with these things for months. After cleaning, dusting, washing, and sleeping with them. You have to sleep in the same bed because they will follow you around the house. Somehow We got rid of them.
“Nightmare. I will never buy used beds or furniture ever. No sleep overs for anyone.”
Bedbugs are small insects that often live on furniture or bedding. Their bites can be itchy, but do not usually cause other health problems, according to the NHS.
Rentokil say that bed bugs will hitchhike on people, clothing, luggage, or other personal belongings and be accidentally transported to other properties.
