Laura Whitmore hits back at fans upset by Kaz and Tyler sofa snub in Love Island reunion

Laura Whitmore has hit back at fans that were upset with Sunday night’s Love Island reunion show.

The 36-year-old defended herself after viewers fumed at not seeing lovebirds Kaz Kamwi and Tyler Cruickshank given a joint interview on the sofa.

They took to Twitter to point out that the other couples who made the final – Chloe Burrows and Toby Aromolaran, Faye Winter and Teddy Soares, and Millie Court and Liam Reardon – were given a chat with the host but that Kaz and Tyler were seated in the audience during their interview.

“The love island reunion was a whole mess, my kaz and tyler still getting played with,” one angrily wrote.

A second echoed: “kaz & tyler’s journey was acc one of the most interesting to happen this season. they deserved to discuss their journey on the sofa & not across the room.”

Another added: “Not bringing Kaz and Tyler on to the stage is the most disrespectful thing I’ve seen all season.

“I actually adore Kaz and Tyler. Gurl why tf did they not get sofa time like the other finals? bit muggy,” chimed in someone else.

After the backlash, Laura took to her Instagram Stories to deny that the seating arrangements had anything to do with her.

She wrote: “Shall I clarify a few other things? Hundreds of people work on Love Island. My job is not to organise seating arrangements. I barely know what seat I’m sitting in before the show as set changes so much.

“We invited Kaz to sit with Toby for his exes segment but she didn’t want to and it’s her choice to make. Everything is run through with the Islanders before hand. It’s all about choice!”

Laura went on: “I only ask questions that are pre approved by the compliance division. A lot of meetings happen before I see the script and then I can add my voice.”

She added: “Unlike previous years, the Islanders weren’t allowed alcohol. Please remember they are just regular people who were nervous on live telly, I’m sure some would have loved a drink for the nerves.”

However, her response did not go down well with fans, who returned to Twitter to reiterate their fury.

“Laura is so dumb do you really think after y’all didn’t invite Kaz and Tyler to the couch to talk about their journey she would want to talk about how she was apart of Toby’s journey if she don’t go to hell,” said one.

Another agreed saying: “They still can’t say I’m not answering any questions it’s the reunion? Laura literally said they have to confirm the questions beforehand again it still doesn’t make sense why Tyler and Kaz couldn’t be questioned ON THE SOFAS instead of in the crowd.”

A third pointed out: “That Laura Whitmore statement is absolute rubbish! Everyone was allowed to sit on the sofa last night for their own segment! Kaz & Tyler were finalists so why was Kaz only asked to come and sit on the sofa for a Toby segment??”
