Liverpool weigh up £25.5m star attracting Euro giants and international attention

Liverpool are considering a move to sign Aurelien Tchouameni from Monaco, but Juventus also want the French midfielder in line for his international debut, per Corriere Dello Sport.

Tchouameni has attracted the European giants and caught Didier Deschamps’s attention after an impressive run under Niko Kovac. The 21-year-old has shown a lot of personality and depth to his talents in a midfield pivot at the Stade Louis II since the Croatian’s arrival.

He has thrived alongside Jean Lucas in the centre of a 4-4-2, offering an athletic presence. The Bordeaux product also has the strength to win possession plus the vision to spread passes across the field and test goalkeepers from range.

Tchouameni ended last season with three goals and four assists over 42 appearances in all competitions. He also made his U21 international debut in March while playing at the European Championship. And he may now be in line for his senior bow under Deschamps.

With Deschamps’ future secure, he is considering introducing Tchouameni next to N’Golo Kante and Paul Pogba. The France boss wants to renew his squad for the 2022 World Cup after an underwhelming Euros, that could have seen Zinedine Zidane replace him in charge.

Domestically, Liverpool also like what Tchouameni has shown with Monaco, but face rival interest from Juventus. His Ligue 1 side have responded to any enquries by stating a €30m (£25.5m) valuation, which the Reds are considering.

Liverpool chiefs are weighing up whether it would be wise to invest in Tchouameni now, given the progress seen lately. Monaco paid Bordeaux €18m (£15.5m) for the Rouen-born midfielder last summer, after just 37 career first-team appearances with Les Girondins.

Tchouameni on the rise amid Liverpool and Juventus interest

Liverpool could regret not betting on Tchouameni now as his Monaco rise attracts Euro giants like Juventus to his potential. Deschamps has also seen enough from the naturally defensive midfielder to consider unleashing him in his new-look senior France squad.

Monaco will likely feel they can add even more to their valuation once Tchouameni is a senior international, as well. He has represented France at every age level between U16s and U21s, with an almost year-by-year rise between the ranks.

The only time Tchouameni failed to move up a level was in 2020, but could make up for it with two promotions this year. Jurgen Klopp may want to add another by rising to Monaco’s valuation with a move to Liverpool to edge Juventus.
