Lorraine Kelly reduces Scots charity mum to tears with surprise visit to home

Lorraine Kelly reduced a Scots charity mum to tears after surprising her with a live chat on the show via her doorstep.

The Scots TV icon and her colleagues are running a search for Woman of the Year 2021 and revealed that Laura McSorley was one of the final three in the running for the award.

Laura, from Glasgow, set up the ‘Kindness Homeless Street Team’ to provide hot meals and essential items to homeless and vulnerable people.

She started her charity with just £5 at the end of 2020 and has now dished out tens of thousands of hot meals to those in need, feeding those living on the streets four days a week.

Laura’s visit from the Lorraine team was led by bagpipes and as she received the knock on her door she burst into tears.

Laura admitted: “I’m a bit overwhelmed.”

One added: “Laura is an absolute gem has heart of gold.”

As Laura wiped away her tears she told Lorraine: “I think I’m crazy to be honest. These guys are amazing, We do it together.”

Laura has previously been sent a letter from Boris Johnson praising her for providing a ‘much-needed sense of comfort’ and honouring her with a special Point of Light award.
