Love Island USA 2021 – Olivia Kaiser and Korey Gandy WIN Season 3 finale banking $50k, becoming USA’s ‘favourite couple’

LOVE Island USA’s Season 3 wrapped up last night with Olivia Kaiser and Korey Gandy claiming the crown.

Victory in the villa saw the loved-up sweethearts declared “America’s favorite couple” and led to them claiming prize money of $50,000 each.

Olivia, a 29-year-old cosmetologist from Scottsdale, and Korey, a 28-year-old rental car agent from Virginia Beach had been the favourites to win throughout having met on day one, but nearly split just before the finale.

However during the finale, Olivia told Korey “I choose you, it’s always been you, and this is just the beginning.”

Will Moncada and Kyra Lizama, who both joined the show in Episode 2, came in second place.

  • WHO IS OLIVIA KAISER?

Olivia is a 28-year-old independent business owner from Anchorage, Alaska.

She is a licensed cosmetologist who runs her own small business in Scottsdale, Arizona, called Livbeautifullyaz.

Olivia specializes in microblading and permanent make-up such as lip blushing and permanent eyeliner.

On her Instagram bio she playfully mentions her job as, “I tattoo faces” and you can follow her @oliviaannkaiser.

  • ‘ROMANTIC CONNECTION’

Korey told ET on Monday: “It wasn’t until the later half of the season until we started to explore that romantic connection.

“Prior to that, we had built such a strong friendship base, so I think that’s what helped us and what pushed us so quickly.”

He added: “But in the start of it, we were both going through kind of the same journey.

“We’re not finding a connection with the people that we’re with and we’re going through all these ups and downs, but at the same time, we’re seeing each other grow as individuals.

“That’s what attracted me to her. Once we were able to complete our growth as individuals, we were able to come together and really explore that romantic connection. That’s ultimately what made us so strong.”

  • SPLIT THE CASH

As with the previous Love Island seasons, the winning couple bagged $100,000 between them.

Love Island always offers a final twist on its last day, however, with the pair given one of two envelopes.

One has “$100,000” written on it and the other is blank and the person who gets the first envelope has the privilege of deciding whether they want to keep all the money for themselves or split it with their lover.

Korey got the $100,000 envelope this year but said, “this is the easiest decision of my life. I’m going to split it.”

  • WHEN DID LOVE ISLAND USA BEGIN?

Love Island started in 2019 in the US having first premiered in the UK in 2015.

Season 2 of Love Island had to take place under quarantine in a Las Vegas hotel, so season 3, which was filmed in Hawaii, was a welcome return to island life.

The show begins with a group of single Islanders who come together in a villa.

Every few days, they must couple up and share beds – with those who fail to find a partner running the risk of being dumped from the island.

As well as winning over one another, contestants have to win the hearts of the American public – as the viewers can make the final call on who can stay and who can go.

  • LONG HARD WEEK

Before the finale, Love Island fans were forced to endure a week of ‘will they, won’t they’ split story lines involving Olivia and Korey.

Despite being the show’s most stable couple throughout, tensions during week six were highlighted and at times it really did seem as though the sweethearts could go their separate way.

Thankfully for us all, they didn’t.

  • WHO IS COREY GANDY?

Korey, 28, is a rental car agent from Virginia Beach, Virginia.

The hunk in trunks studied at Old Dominion University and has a bachelor’s degree in business administration.

He has also worked as a sales representative at HH Gregg, a home appliances retailer.

You can follow Korey on Instagram @korey_gandy where he shares many topless snaps exhibiting his many tattoos.

  • WHEN WAS OLIVIA ‘THE HAPPIEST?’

Speaking to ET on Monday, Olivia explained: “No one understands what I went through in the villa more than he does.

“I think the easiest thing for me to say is every time we were around each other, that was the happiest I was in the villa.

“We are constantly laughing. We’re so similar and sometimes when you’re so similar with someone, you might be like, ‘Oh, is that going to work out?’

“There’s a saying, ‘Opposites attract.’ I think by us not having any pressure and not trying to impress each other because we started as friends, it was just easy.”

  • EXCITED TO REUNITE WITH CASH

Both Olivia and Korey are looking forward to hanging out with Cash.

Olivia told ET that she and Cash were “best friends in the villa.”

She explained: “Even before we coupled up, he was best friends with her. I was best friends with her. So she’s like, “Not my two besties!” Then we’re like, you know what? We’ll give her a little credit. She’s the one that kind of did the sleuthing. So yeah, definitely Cash.”

  • WHAT IS OLIVIA LOOKING FORWARD TO?

Olivia said she’s “excited to see him in his motorcycle crew and see how they act together.”

She told ET: “Even just the little things like going out to get a drink or a snack or something or even the movies, I’m ready to get back to the real world.

  • WHAT IS KOREY LOOKING FORWARD TO LEARNING?

During an interview with ET, Korey said he’s “most excited” to meeting Olivia’s family.

“I’ve met her mom over Facetime. That was awesome. She’s a super genuine person, literally the exact same person but in older form,” he said.

“Her dad, I want to meet him, and her friends. Just how life is back home. That excites me and I can’t wait for it, honestly.”

  • ‘IT HASN’T SUNK IN”

In regards to winning, Olivia told ET: “It’s amazing! It hasn’t sunk in, I don’t think, for either of us.

Also speaking to ET on Monday, Korey said: “I haven’t really talked much in the past day, which is super weird. I’m normally bouncing off the walls talking about something.

“It definitely hasn’t hit me yet just because we’re still all around each other, you know?”

  • WHO WAS LEFT IN THE MIX?

Prior to the final, just four couples remained on the CBS reality show: Kyra Lizama and Will Moncada, Alana Paolucci and Charlie Lynch, Korey Gandy and Olivia Kaiser and Bailey Marshall.

On August 15, Love Island host Arielle Vandenberg revealed which of these four couples the viewers had voted to win the show. Here’s who the fans chose.

  • HIDEAWAY DREAMS

With Elly and K-Ci leaving during week five, the islanders were told that one couple were able to take their place in the Hideaway a week ago today.

That seemed to be the equivalent of Kore and Olivia entering the final straight on their road to victory.

“In my wildest dreams I never thought this would happen,” Korey said in a confessional.

“(We) can finally sleep away from the other 20 people in the room.”
