Police are investigating a shooting at a residence in southwest Houston where a man was shot multiple times while he was standing in his home garage early Sunday morning.
Officer E. Pavel of the Houston Police Department said at around 2:40 a.m, police were dispatched in the 12300 block of Hillcroft Avenue after receiving reports of a shooting, Click 2 Houston reported.
When police arrived at the scene, Pavel said that they found the victim shot multiple times in the stomach area. Officials also said that the man was in his early 30’s and was shot four to six times. He was declared dead at the scene.
According to family members who were also at home during the incident said the shooting happened while the victim was outside in the garage area. They heard four to five gunshots and when they went outside to check what happened, the victim was already down, and the gunman had left the scene.
Pavel also said that the shell casings found at the scene rule out the chances of the incident being a drive-by shooting. Investigators believe that someone walked up and shot the victim.
The family of the victim also said that they weren’t able to see any suspect and it’s still not clear whether the suspect left the scene by foot or in a vehicle.
The fatal shooting is still under investigation by the Houston Police Department’s Homicide Division. The investigation is in its early stage.
Anyone who knows any information about the shooting is encouraged to contact Houston Crime Stoppers at (717) 222-TIPS or the HPD Homicide Division at (713) 308-3600.
