Maskless Man Caught on Video Yelling in the Face of Elderly Woman on a Train

A rude anti-masker was filmed yelling at an elderly woman and pointing his finger directly in her face while on the New York City subway.

Many Americans have asserted their right to freedom by choosing not to wear face masks amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. While protecting themselves is under their discretion, protecting others is public courtesy.

Masks should be worn in public transportations, where many people are at risk of contracting the virus from each other. Still, a 27-year-old Virgina resident chose to ride the New York City subway without a mask.

The man was captured on video yelling at an elderly woman after she told him, “I wish the police would give you a $50 fine.” He sarcastically mocked her in a squealing voice, to which she replied:

“Please get away from me, sir.”

However, the man started to harass the woman even more and chanted “1776,” the year America was found, while pumping his fist in the air.

At that point, the woman stood up and told him to respect his elders, but instead, he pointed straight at her face and told her to sit down. While looking at the man filming, he said:

“You know what I respect? I respect freedom. What do you respect?”

According to the man who first posted the video on social media, no one stepped in to save the lady during the man’s sudden barbaric behavior.

Many people online were furious with what happened and proceeded to call out the man’s behavior. Even the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) ‘s acting chairman shares the same sentiments as any rational person who saw the video.

In New York City alone, there have been nearly 1,500 new confirmed cases in the past week.

“This is outrageous. Number one, the guy’s a jerk,” he said. The MTA currently mandates face masks to be worn inside train stations, trains, buses, and trams. Violators would receive a $50 fine.

The encounter came as the Delta variant, a deadlier and quick-spreading strain, entered different countries and caused an increase in infections.

In New York City alone, there have been nearly 1,500 new confirmed cases in the past week, while places in other parts of the world experienced worse.

Fortunately, vaccine rollouts are continuing as well, with Pfizer being one of the brands that claimed a 95% effectiveness rate in preventing severe cases.

Meanwhile, real-world evidence from Israel showed that the vaccine has a 97% efficacy rate in preventing symptomatic disease, severe disease, and death.

When one is not yet vaccinated, there are other ways recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to lessen the risk of contracting the virus.

These include wearing face masks properly, washing hands with soap and water for over 20 seconds, and using hand sanitizer with 60% or more alcohol after touching surfaces.
