McVities launch mince pie flavour chocolate digestives to ‘kick off Christmas’

McVities has decided to celebrate the festive season early this year by launching mince pie flavoured milk chocolate digestives.

The new tasty treats were introduced this week, despite the fact that Christmas is being four months away.

The recipe sees a combination of Digestives biscuit, McVitie’s silky-smooth milk chocolate and a festive Mince Pie flavour.

McVities say they are launching the treat early as many Brits missed out on proper Christmas celebrations last year as the UK was in lockdown.

However, not everyone is a fan of the news, with many social media users saying it’s “too early” for Christmas food.

It comes after Aldi brought back mince pies recently to celebrate ‘Junemas’

Others didn’t like the sound of the biscuits at all, as on Twitter user wrote: “I don’t like mince pies. Why mess with Chocolate Digestives?”

While another added: “That’s just sick.”

However, some were looking forward to trying, as another social media user exclaimed: “Yes please.”

Jonathan Bull of McVitie’s said: “A mince pie is a quintessentially British Christmas treat so we hope this new biscuit will kick start the festive celebrations and satisfy people’s desire for it at whatever time of year they like, without facing the judgement of any September scrooges.”

The biscuits are available in stores now for £1.59 for a 243g pack.

It comes as the UK-based confectionery giant are also launching a gingerbread variety of their milk chocolate digestives too.

The move comes after Aldi launched a ‘Junemas’ range earlier this summer, which included mince pies, pigs in blankets and turkey burgers.

Meanwhile, Asda became the first supermarket to release its full festive range for 2021, three weeks ago.
