Sarah Brown posted to Facebook how she snapped up a few pairs of the budget store’s plain shoes, and some £1.99 pens from Home Bargains.
The creative mum showed how her kids had spent hours decorating the white trainers, which they then were able to use during the break from school.
Sarah wrote: “Cheap way to amuse the kids for an afternoon.
“Four super happy (and quiet) kids ranging from 8-17 years..
“And holiday shoes sorted, coffee in peace for me. Winner.
“Also we used permanent marker sharpies so should be OK in the rain. Fingers crossed.”
Many people were quick to praise her budget-friendly hack with one saying: “This is a really good idea.”
