Netflix release time and anime episode guide explored!

The highly-anticipated reboot of the ‘Shaman King’ anime is finally here outside Japan, but what time will the series release on Netflix?

Shaman King first debuted on television in 2001 and whilst the translated manga did continue until 2011, that’s still 10 long years without any new content.

Thankfully, the fan favourite anime has made its long-awaited return with the premiere of the reboot series in Japan in May.

So, how can fans around the world watch the latest adaptation of the Shaman King anime weekly and what time will it release internationally on Netflix?

Shaman King: Netflix release date and time…

  • Shaman King will be streaming worldwide via Netflix from 12 AM PDT on Monday, August 9th, 2021.

The international release date for Shaman King was confirmed as part of Netflix’s Geek Week announcements.

The series is expected to launch at the following times around the world:

  • Pacific Time: 12 AM PDT
  • Central Time: 2 AM CDT
  • Eastern Time: 3 AM EDT
  • British Time: 8 AM BST
  • European Time: 9 AM CEST
  • India Time: 12: 30 PM IST
  • Philippine Time: 3 PM PHT
  • Australia Time: 4: 30 PM ACST

However, only the first 13 episodes are expected to release on the streaming platform – see below for more information.

Shaman King episode confusion…

Shaman King is currently listed for 52 episodes and will be split over multiple 13-episode cours (per the Blu-Ray release).

At the time of writing, August 8th, 17 episodes have aired in Japan, with another three before a scheduled break in the broadcast.

It is assumed that Netflix will release Shaman King season 1 as four separate ‘volumes’ each with 13 episodes – in a similar manner to how Pokemon Journeys is being broadcast.

At an early prediction, each volume will be released to Netflix every 3-4 months.

How to watch Shaman King weekly…

Shaman King is airing episodes weekly on Japanese broadcasting networks TV Tokyo, TV Osaka, TV Aichi, TSC, TVQ and BS TV Tokyo.

Unfortunately, the series is not being simulcast on either Funimation or Crunchyroll, with Netflix snagging the exclusive broadcasting rights.

There will be four Blu-Ray DVD releases for Shaman King, each releasing in 13-episode sets at the following dates in Japan:

  • August 25th, 2021
  • November 24th, 2021
  • February 23rd, 2022
  • May 25th, 2022

This article will be updated as soon as more information is revealed.
