Kenneth Petty, who happens to be the husband of Nicki Minaj, is facing the prospect of being locked up in jail in relation to his failure to register as a sex offender.

Kenneth, for his part, has been accused of not registering himself as a sex offender in relation to a previous act that he had done. In response to the charges, he pleaded guilty at the Los Angeles Federal Court.
The charges relate to a previous act of attempted rape that occurred in 1995, prior to when Nicki met him. He had been charged with the rape of a 16-year-old and was forced to serve time in jail for a period of 4 and a half years.
As part of those conditions, he was required to register himself as a sex offender. Failure to do so has raised several consequences. First of all, if he is convicted, he could get a 10-year sentence in jail, as well as a $250,000 fine.
In addition, even if Kenneth gets a lighter sentence, that could be a 5-year period where his release is supervised. This will all have an impact on Kenneth’s career too.
He is known for working in the music industry and has even appeared in some of Nicki’s music videos. These include her songs ‘Megatron’ and ‘Hot Girl Summer.’
Regardless of what happens, this has made things complicated for several reasons. First of all, Nicki married him in 2019. Therefore, it is not clear whether her marriage will be able to survive this scandal.
After all, having such a connection to a person is not going to do her music career any good in terms of marketing. Moreover, the couple share a son who is only 11-months-old.
This is clearly not going to help the couple raise him any easier, as the supporters of the victim will want Kenneth to be on the register given that it was part of his punishment.
Nicki has a serious decision that she must make. Does she stand by him in the face of adversity, or does she walk away and try to save any scrutiny that may end up coming her way. We will have to see how this will all play out.
