Phillip Schofield hit out at a busy mum on Wednesday’s instalment of This Morning as he branded the guest as ‘selfish’ and ‘greedy’ as she started stocking up on Christmas presents as early as June amid a toy shortage.
The busy mum told hosts Phillip and Holly Willoughby that she has already spent a whopping £2,500 on Christmas gifts despite the fact the holiday is still eight weeks away.
As concerns grow that toys won’t arrive in time for Christmas, this Northern mum stockpiled over 300 presents with 100 just for her 3-year-old.
Explaining her reasoning behind the excessive consumerism, the guest told: “With the shortage and the shortage of lorry drivers – I did start to panic.
“I started to think that I needed to get out there and get them now, or we might end up having a horrible Christmas.”
Despite her reasoning, Phillip wasn’t having any of it as he suggested that stockpiling gifts is a ‘selfish’ and ‘greedy’ thing to do as it leaves other children running the risk of not being able to receive their favourite toy at Christmas.
Phillip said: “Do you not think that it’s a bit selfish to stockpile all these presents?

“It could leave other children without presents.”
And after watching the segment, This Morning viewers flocked to Twitter to share their own thoughts.
One viewer fumed: “That is simply excessive and selfish. Phillip is so right!!! Buying Christmas presents in June should be a crime.”
“300 presents!! How many children does she have? That is absolutely ridiculous,” another raged.
“Fair enough buying presents a bit earlier but come on, that’s a joke,” someone else added.
Elsewhere, others defended the organised mum.
“Leave the woman be, it’s been a tough year for everyone. Maybe she wants to treat her kids,” defended one viewer.
“I’ve bought my presents earlier too. It doesn’t mean less toys for everyone else. You have to be smart about these things,” another added.
During the same segment on This Morning, another guest told that she has already spent hundreds of pounds stocking up on crisps, biscuits, and chocolate for Christmas Day.
This Morning airs weekdays from 10AM on ITV.
