Woman kicked off flight after smoking cigarette on plane

Plane passengers were shocked after a woman sparked a cigarette as soon as the flight landed – even though smoking on planes is illegal.

A TikTok video shows the woman lighting the cigarette inside the plane cabin, even though it is a public flight and smoking on board is banned.

As the Daily Star reports, the woman was on a Spirit Airlines flight and the plane was waiting to park at Fort Lauderdale Airport, in Florida, at the time.

Beatrice Trifonova, who sits one row behind on the other aisle, captured the woman’s behaviour on film and uploaded it to social media – and the clip soon went viral as people couldn’t believe what they were seeing.

In the clip, a passenger can be heard asking “Excuse me? Can you not smoke cigarettes right now?”

And the woman replies: “It’s been a long day.”

In a follow-up video, two airport police officers are seen onboard the plane asking the woman, who is apparently sleeping, to get off.

One officer says: “Ma’am, come on. Let’s go, do you have a bag with you?”

While the officers are searching for her carry-on backpack, a passenger sitting at the back complains about the delay of disembarking the plane.

Beatrice wrote in the video: “This is what happens when you smoke on a plane. She denied smoking in front of the flight attendants and they found the cigarette in her empty cup.

“The woman next to her told us she had a double vodka cranberry during the flight.”

The woman was eventually escorted off the plane by Broward Sheriff’s Office Airport District deputies.

A police statement said: “On scene, deputies met with Spirit Airlines employees and were advised that they wanted a female passenger removed from the plane for smoking.

“Deputies made contact with the request, and no arrest was made.”

A Spirit Airlines spokesperson said: “Flight Attendants noticed the odour and the other guests were quick to point out who was responsible and hand over what remained of the extinguished cigarette.

“Our crew summoned law enforcement officers to have them waiting at the gate to remove the passenger.”
