Retriever puppy nervously befriends big rottweiler

An adorable puppy that just wanted to make a new friend has gone viral online and left many social media users in stitches over his failed attempt to befriend an ‘alpha dog’.

In a TikTok video which has been viewed millions of times, a young golden retriever named Sully can be seen trying to get the attention of a much bigger rottweiler at the park.

As reported by The Daily Star, the five-month-old puppy can be seen nuzzling the rottweiler and rolling around on the ground next to the older dog.

But the pup’s plan doesn’t go as he’d hoped as no matter what Sully does, the rottweiler simply ignores him.

Unwilling to give up, the retriever tries several more times to win over the bigger dog, who ends up facing away from him.

Sully’s owner, Erin Toporski, shared the sweet clip on her @thegoldenboys_mn TikTok channel.

Since it went up, hundreds of people have commented on the cute scene, with many hoping the dogs become BFFs in the future.

One person said: “My Rottweiler is the same when dogs play with him he never hurts them he is just old and always annoyed.”

Another replied: “This is so cute but the Rottweiler couldn’t care less I hope they become besties.”

Someone else noted: “The puppy is being very submissive. He is being good.”

While a fourth added: “You can tell the Rottweiler is telling him to leave him alone but also can’t resist the puppy charm.”

Erin added: “He has a 120-pound big brother so he loves big dogs.

“The Rottweiler is essentially the ‘alpha’ of the dog park and is one of the biggest dogs there and, for some reason, Sully wants to try and be his friend so badly.

“Every time we got to the park he is constantly trying to give him kisses, play with him, and just overall annoy him.

“His efforts have not worked very well thus far.”
