Rangers’ positive injury update ahead of Malmo Champions League clash

Rangers are back in action tomorrow night when they face Malmo in the second leg of their Champions League tie – and Gers boss Steven Gerrard has confirmed he has virtually a full-strength squad to pick from tomorrow night.

The Light Blues trail the Swedes by a single goal after losing the first leg 2-1 but will be roared on by 50000 Rangers fans at Ibrox tomorrow night.

Steven Davis’ 95th-minute strike kept the Gers in the tie but the Light Blue will be without Kemar Roofe and Glen Kamara through suspension, while Ryan Jack and Niko Katic are still sidelined through injury.

However, Ianis Hagi, Fashion Sakala and Leon Balogun are all available again after missing the weekend defeat by Dundee United at Tannadice.

“We were pretty limited last week but more positive now,” Gerrard said.

“Hagi returns to the squad, Balogun is fit and available, Sakala is fit and will be involved in the squad as is Alfredo.

“A real positive update. Only Katic, Jack and the suspensions missing.”

Ibrox will be packed for the first time since March 2020 as Covid restrictions are finally eased and Rangers fans will be looking for the sort of performance the Light Blues were renowned for last season.

With a clash against Olympiacos or Ludogorets awaiting the winners for a place in the group stages, Rangers will surely be fired up and raring to go after back-to-back defeats for the first time since before Covid.
