Rangers winger wows on loan as some fans claim he’s ‘better than Kent’

Rangers winger Glenn Middleton made his second debut for St. Johnstone yesterday after returning to McDiarmid Park on loan – and Saints fans were buzzing after an impressive 71 minute showing from the Scotland under-21 star.

Middleton returned to St. Johnstone after playing for Rangers in some of their pre-season friendlies and he hit the ground running yesterday as Tony Watt’s late equaliser denied Callum Davidson’s side the three points.

Middleton caused a number of problems for the Motherwell defence before being replaced 20 minutes from the end and he’ll be hoping to get a regular run of starts following his move to Perth.

The winger himself admitted he was still some way from his best after yesterday’s game but is looking forward to helping the Saints build on last season’s success in the cups.

While he’ll miss Thursday’s Europa League clash with Galatasaray, Middleton will get some European football under his belt with the Saints dropping into the Europa Conference League if they lose to the Turks.

After the St. Johnstone Twitter account asked “how good” Middleton was, Saints fans were full of praise for the Rangers Academy graduate.
