Reba McEntire says her faith kept her going after her divorce, and she chose to soldier on to get her life back on track focusing on her musical career and business.
Songwriter Reba McEntire recently appeared on the latest Apple Fitness + Time to Walk experience and shared how she took charge of her life following her divorce from Narvel Blackstock in 2015.
The 66-year-old explained things went sour in their marriage, and therefore they ended their union. Blackstock was also her manager at the time.
Of the entire experience, the “Tremors” actress said the worst of all during their separation was that there were four people taking care of her business at the time, adding:
“I had my production manager who left, I had my CEO who left, my manager and husband, and my father had died. So, four men who were rock and pillars of my world were gone.”
McEntire revealed when she started being in charge, only then did she begin to realize how much bills cost and all the things that were going on in her life, saying:
“I started taking over signing checks, and then I started realizing how much water cost and the electricity bill. I made money. I brought it home. So, it was a huge, huge change for me.”
McEntire’s father died in October 2014 at age 86, months before her divorce from Blackstock, 65. The former couple was married for 26 years.
The star said she dealt with everything personal privately from thereon, noting she put her faith in God as she asked for guidance. McEntire emphasized that without her faith, her future would have been bleak.
Just recently, the Oklahoma native teased fans with new music on the way as she has a new album coming up. According to Hello Magazine, McEntire will be releasing a compilation of all her greatest hit songs in one album, called “Revived Remixed Revisited.”
On Friday, October 1, she revealed the first video for “I’m A Survivor,” which she first released in 2001. Fans instantly got hyped up about it and applauded her for reinventing her music for the new generation.
Not only is she adapting to change, but the red-haired also has a new look to go with it as she recently debuted a new hairdo while attending Loretta Lynn’s benefit concert.
For the show that raised nearly $1 million, McEntire took to the stage to perform her hit songs and donned a brand-new look as she ditched her shoulder-length waves for a chin-length bob.
