Rod Stewart revealed that he’s joined TikTok at the age of 76.
The Maggie May singer posted a video telling his 493,000 Instagram followers that he’s decided to join the video sharing platform.
He said that during the month of October he will be releasing exciting content ahead of the release of his new album The Tears of Hercules.
Speaking to the camera, surrounded by his band, Rod says: “TikTok has opened up a whole new world for musicians and their fans.
“And I can’t wait to bring my brand of ‘Rock and Roll’ to the TikTok community. I enjoy finding new ways to share my music through RodTober and we will be doing just that. It will be exciting to see how the huge TikTok community of rock lovers respond.”
TikTok is a video sharing platform where millions of users upload 3 minute long clips or less with the rest of the world.
And some of Rod’s fans were split down the middle about his decision.
One wrote: “Followed you for 50 years but not tik tok.”
Another said: “I can’t believe you are making me subscribe at f*****g Tik Tok Mr. Stewart.”
One added: “Not doing another social media thing. Sorry no tiktoc for me.”
While one said: “Tik tok for me! You are such a character and great sport!”
Another wrote: “Need a tik tok now.”
Celtic-daft Rod announced last month that he is bringing out a new album which he says will be his ‘best’ yet.
Giving fans some insight into what his latest hits will be about, he revealed most of them will be about sex.
His first single in particular – called One More Time – is about wanting ‘amazing’ sex from an ex-girlfriend after a break-up
Speaking on BBC Radio Two, he said: “The story behind the song is you know when you break up with somebody and the sex was amazing and you just want to do it one more time?
“That’s what the song is about. It’s happened to all of us I’m sure.
“The songs are more or less life stories. Unfortunately a lot of them have got to do with love and sex on this album.
“Well not unfortunately, that’s the way I was feeling and they are just things that have happened to me.”
Sir Rod also revealed his favourite song on the new album is about his Scottish dad, and their love of football.
He said: “My favourite on the album is a song about my dad. It’s called Touchline because he was always on the touchline watching me and my brothers play in the same team.
“He would always be there on the touchline in the pouring rain and shouting abuse and advice.
“Now I find that I do that with my sons and hopefully my sons will do it with their sons. It’s all about football, we love our football.”
He added: “I’ve never said this before about any previous efforts, but I believe this is by far my best album in many a year.”
The Tears of Hercules will be released on November 12.
