Roy Keane told ITV Sport (07/08/21 at 4:40 pm) that it’s ‘ridiculous’ that Harry Kane thinks he has a gentleman’s agreement to leave Tottenham.

The 28-year-old is wanted by Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola and he has seemingly missed days of training at Tottenham in order to force a move.

Daniel Levy is a tough customer to deal with on a good day and Kane is now getting a taste of what it is like having to deal with one of the Premier League’s most stubborn chairman.

Given the recent drama surrounding Kane, the outspoken Keane didn’t pull any punches when sharing his thoughts on the matter.

“There’s talk about a gentleman’s agreement,” said Keane. “That’s ridiculous.

“Anyone who thinks they have an agreement with the club, unless it’s written in the contract, then forget about it.

On the players these days getting what they want in these situations: “Not always,” responded Keane. “Particularly with Spurs. The chairman there will dig his heels in.

“You are talking about my transfer all them years ago, I had a clause in my contract. We have seen it with Grealish. The people around him, with all the advisor, they don’t put that in his contract. It’s bizarre.”

Given that only weeks remain until the transfer window slams shut, it’s going to be pretty difficult for Kane to be a Man City player by the end of this window.

Jack Grealish may have got his big-money move this summer, but Kane might have to wait to share a pitch with him until he returns to England duty in a few months time.

Either way, whatever tactics Kane and his team have played here, it clearly hasn’t worked out and he has turned out as the bad guy.

But putting the ball into the back of the net can paper over the cracks for the Englishman, who has perhaps lost the respect of a few of his supporters with his recent actions.
