Created by Nicolas Entel, and Miguel Tejada Flores, “S.O.Z: Soldiers or Zombies” is an upcoming Mexican post-apocalyptic horror streaming television series that revolves around a narco kingpin who escapes from a high-security Mexican prison with his son and finds refuge at a remote drug rehab facility located on the U.S. side of the border where they encounter deadly mutant zombies and is premiering on Friday, August 6, 2021, on Amazon Prime Video.
WHAT IS “S.O.Z: Soldiers or Zombies” about?
To avoid extradition, the charismatic and unpredictable drug lord Alonso Marroquin escapes from a Mexican prison to hide in a remote facility located in the middle of the desert. On the U.S. side of the border, a U.S Army experiment with minipigs conducted in a military base goes wrong and the Mexican police unit pursuing Marroquin gets infected, transforming themselves into a newly enhanced zombie species with special abilities. The army and this new species converge on Marroquin’s hideout where the battle for survival will begin.
“They weren’t killed,” says the American scientist responsible for the virus. “They were infected. They’re highly mobile, and they’re out there.” All-out war erupts throughout the trailer, not only between Marroquín and the zombie-soldiers but also from the American government, in an attempt to capture and eliminate the monsters they’ve created.
