One source of comfort was the star’s Girl’s Aloud bandmate and long-time friend, Nadine Coyle.

Harding opened up about drowning her sorrows with her pal in her new tell-all autobiography.

Released prior to her passing, Heart Me Out is a raw and open look into Sarah’s life, including her battle with breast cancer over the last year.

The book also includes uplifting stories of her life, with the star admitting that she was a mess after being diagnosed.

Harding wrote about spending an evening with Nadine, crying, drinking wine and eating cheese, as her friend told her how much she loved her.

“Throughout the evening, we all had our moments of hysterical laugher followed by tears.

“At one point, Nadine told me in no uncertain terms how much she cared about me: ‘You don’t understand, Sarah. I love you!'”

“OK, so it wasn’t like the nights of wild partying I did back in the day, but it was still very special.”

Sarah wrote: “When the doctor delivered the news that I had breast cancer, I was a mess – like anyone would be.

“Being faced with your own mortality is not something you consider, but that’s how that moment felt for me.”

The 39-year-old was diagnosed with cancer in early 2020, after feeling several swollen lymph nodes in her arms.

She went for an ultrasound after initially refusing to go into the hospital due to the outbreak of COVID.

In December 2020, Nadine, 35, travelled to Manchester to see Sarah.

Sarah was diagnosed with advanced breast cancer last August and underwent a mastectomy and chemotherapy in a bid to prolong her life.

Nadine Coyle was the first of the remaining Girls Aloud bandmates to pay tribute, writing on Instagram: “I am absolutely devastated!! I can’t think of words that could possibly express how I feel about this girl & what she means to me!!

“I know so many of you will be feeling this way. For now I’m sending so much love to you!!!

Sarah’s ex, reality star Calum Best, 40, who she dated in 2005, wrote that he was “so blessed” to have known her.

Sharing a picture of them together he wrote: “Jesus this one hits home, this is so sad, so young, so much life, so much talent.

“Sarah I’m so sorry ur gone , I will always remember the good times, I remember when we met around 22/23 at a event for glamour, spent all night flirting 😂😘.

“We then spent a few years together and I remember u where a shoulder for me when my dad passed and I valued u so much for that ! So blessed we where able to continue on a 16 year friendship ❤️❤️❤️.”

He concluded: “Rest in peace gorgeous and sending so much love to ur mom ❤️.”
