Scarlett Johansson and the Walt Disney Company have reached an agreement over her Black Widow pay, the two parties announced on Thursday. The deal’s terms were not made public. Johansson filed a lawsuit against Disney in late July, claiming that she never agreed to the film being released on Disney+ Premiere Access on the same day as it was released in theaters. A public relations battle ensued, with Disney claiming Johansson was paid $20 million to make the film.
“I am relieved that our differences with Disney have been resolved,” Johansson said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter. “I’m very proud of the work we’ve done together over the years, and I’ve had a great creative relationship with the team.” I’m looking forward to working with you for many years to come. “Alan Bergman, chairman of Disney Studios, said he was “pleased” the two sides were able to work out their differences. “We value her contributions to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and look forward to collaborating on a number of upcoming projects with her, including Disney’s Tower of Terror,” Bergman said. Johansson reportedly signed on to produce and star in a film based on Disney’s Hollywood Studios’ Tower of Terror ride just weeks before filing the lawsuit.
