Selena Gomez is the latest Disney sweetheart to speak out about her time with the company.
Child celebrities who got their big break with he “Mouse House” include Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato, Zac Efron and of course, Selena.
SelGo might’ve started her career in acting on “Barney and Friends” with Demi; however, it was her role as Alex Russo on “Wizards Of Waverly Place” on the Disney Channel that made her a household name.
Sel starred on ‘Wizards’ from 2007 to 2012. After the show ended, she took a break from TV to focus on her music career.
In addition to music, Selena went on to star in a number of films including “Spring Breakers,” “The Big Short,” “Fundamentals Of Caring,” and “The Dead Don’t Die.”
Now, nearly 10 years later, Selena will return to TV in “Only Murders In The Building” streaming on Hulu beginning August 31. She stars alongside Martin Short and Steve Martin.
In a recent interview with the Television Critics Association, Selena revealed that taking a break from TV roles helped her grow as an actress.
Sel revealed the plot of the murder-mystery show intrigued her enough to make a return to TV.
“What I’d say is the level of sophistication of the material is the first reason why I wanted to do this,” Selena revealed.
However, back when she was a teenager on Disney she admitted she didn’t know what she was doing.
“I signed my life away to Disney at a very young age and I didn’t know what I was doing,” she said.
Selena continued, “But when I was a kid, I didn’t know what I was doing. I was just running around on set and now I just feel like a sponge, and I soak up all the wisdom that I can.”
Selena admitted she was able to soak up a wealth of knowledge from her ‘Only Murders’ co-stars Martin and Short.

“What I think is really special is that they have a sense of humor that doesn’t exist anymore, in a way,” Selena Gomez shared about the comedy legends she shares this project with. “It’s very light, and I think for me, that was something that I really appreciated… I just really hope that I can live up to these incredible people.”
She continued, “I learned a lot from the first episode to the end. I even made a joke to John [Hoffman, executive producer] about how I wish now I could redo the entire first episode, because of how developed I felt towards the end.”
