Mike Shouhed is going to be an honest man after all.
The “Shahs of Sunset” star, 42, revealed during the show’s reunion on Sunday night that he is engaged to Paulina Ben-Cohen after a rollercoaster relationship.
“I want to share something with you guys,” he said during the sit-down. “We’re engaged … and we wanted to share that with everybody today.”
He recalled how he included her two children, whom she shares with ex-husband Tal Bahari, in his proposal.
“I actually asked her son his permission to marry his mommy, and I gave him the ring,” he explained. “We were in Hawaii, and I planned with the concierge where the most beautiful part of the beach was gonna be.”
While he didn’t say when the proposal went down, Shouhed posted photos from Hawaii in July.
He added that the couple is currently living together in a home they bought in May, but his castmates were more shocked that the couple is not intending to get a prenuptial agreement.
Ben-Cohen argued, “I would not marry someone if I felt that I need to protect myself. In my eyes, that’s not a marriage. Then I’ll just date someone.”
She also affirmed her love for Shouhed, saying, “The love and the connection that we have with each other, like, I would not be able to live a day without him in my life.”
Their engagement comes after Shouhed was caught in a sexting scandal while he was in a relationship with Ben-Cohen.
While he denied any wrongdoing on “Shahs of Sunset,” he admitted to his wrongdoings in a May interview.
“It was a dark time,” he told E! News. “We were going through COVID, being on lockdown, and I let the anxiousness of going through that and just being bored allow me to do things I shouldn’t have done.
“Looking back, I feel really stupid for allowing myself to engage in that conversation, even though those text messages were for a few hours and one day that those messages happened, reliving it now feels like… like it was going on for a long period of time…it just hurt her, it hurt me.”
This will be Shouhed’s second marriage. He was previously married to Jessica Parido, who is now in a “mom group” with Golnesa Gharachedaghi.
