Emma Kenney, who starred alongside Emmy Rossum on Shameless for nine seasons, claims the actress took out her bad days on co-stars.
Kenney, 22, appeared on the latest episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast, during which she held nothing back about her time acting alongside Rossum, 35.
The Conners star admitted she would get “anxious” when she had to appear on set with Rossum, revealing that she would sometimes take her “bad day” out on everyone else.
She noted that it felt odd when Rossum — once the show’s female star — left the show in season nine, but added that it did wonders for the mood during filming.
Kenney told Call Her Daddy host Alex Cooper of Rossum’s exit: “It was weird at first for sure but it also … the set became more of a positive place, I’m not gonna lie.
“I remember pre [Rossum] leaving, I’d go to set some days and I’d be very anxious about having a scene with her because if she had a bad day, she made it a bad day for everybody.”
Kenney said during the podcast episode that she and Rossum have not “spoken in years,” though they had what she described as a sisterly relationship while working on the Showtime adaptation of the British TV show.
The actress added that it was “in good and bad ways,” noting that Rossum would often give her “not the best advice.”
Their relationship has since changed and they are far from close these days, Kenney shared. She isn’t harboring any ill will toward her former co-star and friend, however.
Kenney explained: “I have a lot of love for Emmy, I’ve known her for so long… we haven’t spoken in years, we’re not like… ya know.
“But that’s OK.
“I have a lot of love for her, and I hope she finds her happiness.
“I heard she had a baby and that’s beautiful and I’m sure she’s going to be a lovely mother … so yeah.”
While Kenney was critical of Rossum, she had nothing but kind words for co-star Shanola Hampton.
She claimed the actress, who played Rossum’s best friend on Shameless, was like a “second mom” to her.
Rossum welcomed a baby girl with husband Sam Esmail in May.
She announced the news after her daughter’s birth, keeping her entire pregnancy under wraps.
