Simon Cowell seems to find cycling a drag after vowing to get ‘fitter than ever’

SIMON Cowell appears to find keeping fit a bit of a drag — opting for an electric bike ride before winding down with a cigarette.

The 61-year-old X Factor guru was spotted in Malibu, California, a year after breaking his back falling off an electric bike.

In August he shattered his spine in three places with the same £16,500 CAB Recon e-bike, that can reach speeds of 60mph.

He needed six hours of surgery and missed his spinal cord by a centimetre in the horrific accident.

Speaking after the accident, Simon said: “I’ve never been in this situation in my life where you literally can’t move. I made a promise to myself I’d be fitter than I was before I had the accident. Sure enough, that’s what happened.”

Thankfully it looks like he has staged a full recovery.

He has just signed a deal to produce and star in an unscripted series for streaming service Peacock.

It’ll be good to see him back in the saddle . . .
